We Welcome Volunteers
Join us at Sparkle on Stage Cultural Arts Center, an award-winning theatre and cultural arts center! We welcome applicants who believe in our mission to bring all art forms to our community. Ideal candidates would have experience in the non-profit sector, as well excellent presentation and writing skills. Most importantly, we are interested in volunteers with energy, spirit, and a desire to raise funds for Sparkle on Stage’s operations, community programs, and theatre productions! With any volunteer position, there is an expectation that you are committed to the time and diligence the position requires. Please be sure that the position for which you volunteer matches your availability.

Development Committee
The Development Committee consists of three subcommittees responsible for utilizing and making connections, helping to raise funds and develop relationships with future sponsors. This includes searching for grants, corporate sponsors, partnerships, donors and potential funders. This also includes organizing and running events. We seek enthusiastic professionals to engage with private foundations, individual donors, and potential funders in the corporate world.
Grant writers are responsible for searching out grants that fit our mission and for which we are eligible. Volunteers develop relationships with grant-making organizations, help write development proposals and grants, and develop timelines for the grants, ensuring deadlines are met. The ideal volunteer would have some grant writing experience. The ability to research opportunities online and have perseverance are essential.
Another impactful way to volunteer is to support our fundraising endeavors such as helping to generate and implement ideas for raising money, recruiting new members during our membership drives, and participating in other fundraising activities. Skills helpful for this position include being able to talk to people, not being afraid to ask for money, and to be able to explain our mission and needs in a compelling way.
An integral part of this committee is volunteers who can plan and run events as well as developing relationships with corporate sponsors and soliciting in-kind donations for special events. Examples of events include regular programming at the theater, various themed events for children and adults, and annual fundraising events. Skills helpful for this position include exceptional organizational skills, ability to manage expenses, and event planning experience.
Marketing Committee
The focus of the Marketing Committee is to create and maintain public awareness of Sparkle on Stage, communicate the role of a cultural arts center in the community, and bring in audiences for our events. This includes the following jobs:

Liaison with local media and news outlets, write press releases about programs and events that are happening at Sparkle. We are looking to increase our presence in other local communities.

Create promotional materials (including brochures, flyers, trifolds, etc.) that tell Sparkle on Stage’s story to attract donors, sponsors, audiences and performers.

Write copy and create graphics for flyers advertising our events using Canva, Poster My Wall or similar programs. We are looking for someone with a good sense of graphic design and an eye for detail.

Add upcoming events and ticketing information to our website using Wix. Must have good proofreading skills.

Keep subscribers informed about our activities through a monthly newsletter featuring upcoming events and compelling stories about cultural arts in our area. This is a great opportunity for a creative person who can use the written word to convey their love of theater and the arts.

Write a bi-weekly or monthly blog related to the visual and performing arts

Assist with website updates, design, and search engine optimization

Promote upcoming events through social media

Develop engaging content for social media platforms in order to increase awareness of Sparkle on Stage

Increase, monitor and respond to online reviews
Community Service
HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS
We have an internship program for students. We provide true hands-on experience in the administrative and production aspects of not-for-profit theatre and cultural arts. The development of new works/plays and live performances. Internships are created on an individual basis and students will have the opportunity to develop and improve their communication, organizational, and conceptual skills through real-world assignments and working alongside professionals in their field.
We welcome our interns into a community of dedicated professionals who believe deeply in their role of artists-as-mentors. Sparkle on Stage is especially interested in mentoring young people who have limited access to supportive learning environments due to their race/ethnicity, economic status or other factors that might create barriers to in-depth opportunities for development.
Sparkle on Stage internships are unpaid.
We are happy to complete any documentation for students who are required to serve as an intern for credit.
